Introduction to Participatory Evaluation Planning – Tips and Tools

About the workshop:

Nothing about us without us. This webinar focuses on participatory evaluation planning, a process for engaging right holders and stakeholders in the evaluation planning process. Including right holders and stakeholders ensures that the evaluation will be designed to meet community needs and increases the chances that the evaluation results will be used.

This webinar provides an introduction to participatory evaluation planning.

At the end of the webinar you should be able to:

1. List the steps in planning an evaluation
2. Describe the value of participatory evaluation
3. List three activities to engage stakeholders in participatory evaluation planning, and
4. Name three ways you can continue to enhance your evaluation knowledge and skill.

Presenter bio: Marla Steinberg, PhD CE has been a professional evaluator and evaluation educator for over 25 years. She has conducted evaluations in a wide range of areas including early childhood development, health promotion, research capacity building, organizational development, leadership, partnerships and coalitions, health services, research impact, and knowledge transfer and exchange. Her work has examined strategies, policies and programs at the federal, provincial, and community levels. She has extensive experience in teaching and professional development that spans developing and delivering graduate level courses, in-service coaching support for health service professionals, in-person workshops, and e-learning courses. She currently serves as the volunteer director of the Canadian Evaluation Society’s e-Institute, an online professional development platform for evaluation. She brings to her work a passion for evaluation and a focus on engaging and experiential learning. She lives, works, and plays in Vancouver, British Columbia, the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

About the MAP Evaluation Series: The MAP Evaluation Series aims to build on our core principles – street-level solutions, policy impact, training and community partnership – to build evaluation capacity. We convene community agencies and researchers around the country interested in learning about different evaluation and developing evaluation skills.

All sessions are facilitated by individuals with academic and applied evaluation expertise, and are available free-of-charge via Zoom.
